ST Telemedia Marks Beginning of Strategic Partnership with VNPT Global at a Ceremony
On March 11, ST Telemedia and VNPT Global announced their strategic partnership where ST Telemedia had invested 10% in VNPT Global, the global telecoms subsidiary of Vietnam’s largest telecoms company, VNPT Group. The strategic partnership will boost VNPT Global and ST Telemedia’s capability to access telecommunications opportunities globally. Marking the beginning of the partnership, ST Telemedia’s President & CEO, Mr Lee Theng Kiat, was presented with the Investment Certificate by VNPT Global Chairman, Mr Lam Hoang Vinh, at a ceremony in Hanoi. The ceremony was witnessed by H.E. Mr Tran Duc Lai, Deputy Minister of Information Communication Ministry, and H.E. Mr Simon Wong, Singapore Ambassador to Vietnam.

ST Telemedia Agrees to Invest in U Mobile in Malaysia

On 15 March, ST Telemedia announced that it has entered into definitive agreements with  U Television (UTV)  to purchase 33% of  its mobile company, U Mobile.  The signing cermony, held  in Malaysia''s capital was witnessed by YB Dato’ Seri Utama Dr. Rais Yatim, Malaysia’s Minister of Information, Communications and Culture; Mr Lim Ming Seong, Board Director of ST Telemedia and Mr Kenneth Chang, Executive Director of U Mobile.

Global Crossing wins three-year contract to supply and manage global telecommunications for CMI
Global Crossing has won a three-year contract to provide global managed Internet Protocol Virtual Private Network (IP VPN) service to Belgian-based international equipment supplier active in energy, defence and industry markets, Cockerill Maintenance & Ingénierie (CMI).   Global Crossing was selected over several major European competitors. Global Crossing’s IP VPN will boost collaboration and productivity across CMI’s sites worldwide.
 

Global Crossing Extends Etisalat Customers'' Reach Across USA, Canada and Latin America

Global Crossing has entered into an agreement with Etisalat, a leading carrier in the Middle East, to provide seamless connectivity alternatives to Etisalat customers who want to expand their connectivity to the United States, Canada and Latin America from the United Arab Emirates. As part of the alliance, Etisalat has set up its own nodes in New York with last mile connectivity provided by Global Crossing to offer global connectivity solutions through a secure and fully owned IP/MPLS (Multiprotocol Label Switching) network.

eircom/Meteor Employees Raise 70,000 for Haitian Earthquake Victims
In the aftermath of the Haiti earthquake in January, eircom and Meteor employees rallied to raise a total of 35,000 to aid victims of the disaster. eircom kept to its commitment to match all employees'' donations, bringing the total raised to €70,000. The funds will go towards Concern Worldwide''s effort to help in the reconstruction of Haiti and projects that will bring benefits to the people of Haiti.
