U Mobile and ZTE Partner to Build a 100 Mbps Wireless Network in Malaysia
 
U Mobile and ZTE have signed an agreement to bring 100 Mbps wireless network across key cities in Malaysia.  The landmark agreement will see U Mobile extending its 42 Mbps mobile network in Central, Negeri Sembilan and the Northern region by the second half of 2011 and the installation of LTE platforms which can support 100 Mbps wireless access across Malaysia.

ST Telemedia Receives Singapore 1000 Award

 

ST Telemedia is a recipient of the Singapore 1000 Award in the 24th Annual Singapore 1000, Singapore SME & Singapore International 100 Rankings.  ST Telemedia was ranked in four categories ― “Top Companies Ranked By Sales Turnover”, “Top Companies Ranked By Net Profit”, “Top Companies Ranked By Profit Margin” and “Top Companies Ranked By ROA”.  The Singapore 1000 Award is co-organised by credit and business bureau, DP Information Group and Ernst & Young.

StarHub Joins Top Asian Carriers to Build Asia Submarine-Cable Express
 
StarHub joined a consortium of top Asian carriers to build and operate the Asia Submarine-Cable Express (ASE), a 7,200 kilometre undersea cable system linking Singapore directly to Japan, the Philippines and Hong Kong.   Set to operate by June 2012, the ASE is designed to avoid earthquake and typhoon regions, and boasts a total bandwidth carrying capacity in excess of 15 terabits per second and will incorporate latest 40G optical technologies.  It is future-proof by having the capability to incorporate 100Gbps optical technology going forward. 
 
 
ST Telemedia Hosts Vietnam’s EVN Telecom Learning Visit
 
In March, ST Telemedia hosted a delegation from EVN Telecom, led by its Chief Financial Officer Mr Nguyen Nhu Thong (first row, 5th left), for an educational visit.  StarHub participated with a presentation by Senior Product Manager, Mr Michael Chang (second row, 3rd right) on the company and Singapore’s telecommunications landscape. Eircom has successfully completed the deployment of a state-of-the-art ICT infrastructure in The Convention Centre Dublin (The CCD).  The dynamic ICT infrastructure enables The CCD to offer its clients personal and customized service to support large and small events at the venue.  This dynamic ICT platform has positioned The CCD as one of the most technically sophisticated convention centres in the world.

StarHub Launches First Set of Roaming Cost Management Tools in Singapore 
 
StarHub launched the innovative Roam Manager for mobile roaming customers to manage their data usage cost by providing them with pertinent roaming related information and data usage cost notification feature while overseas.  StarHub customers can now be informed by their selected cost alerts via SMS when data usage reaches their pre-set tiers of data costs in a day.

ST Telemedia Supports the Dana-Farber Marathon Challenge for the 7th Year
 
ST Telemedia is a supporter of the Dana-Farber Marathon Challenge  (DFMC) for the 7th year.  100% of the funds raised from DFMC will be channelled to the Claudia Adams Barr Program in Innovative Basic Cancer Research at Dana-Farber.  Global Crossing’s CEO John Legere will be running in the 115th Boston Marathon as a member of the DFMC team for the seventh time.  The Boston Marathon will commence on 18 April.

StarHub Launches Donation Drive via SMS to Aid Japan Disaster Victims
Post-paid mobile customers from StarHub in Singapore can now make donations to aid victims of the Japan disaster by sending an SMS with administrative costs fully waived.  100% of the donations will go towards the Singapore Red Cross Society’s relief efforts in Japan.  The mobile donation campaign will end midnight on 25 April 2011.

eircom Supports the Special Olympics and Team Ireland for the 26th Time  

To celebrate Team Ireland’s participation at the Special Olympics Games, eircom has created an exciting online campaign   to allow people to leave personal messages of support for the Team Ireland athletes.  Team Ireland will join 7,500 Special Olympics athletes from 185 nations for the Games which will take place in Athens, Greece, from 25 June – 4 July.  

 

 
U Mobile Supports the Super Achievers in the 2nd Pesta Wilayah Day Bowling Championship in Malaysia

U Mobile recently supported the super achievers — talented under-privileged and physically challenged bowlers — during the 2nd Pesta Wilayah Day Bowling Championship.   As a main sponsor for the ''Vision impaired, amputee, wheelchair and little people'' category and the ''Open'' category,  U Mobile had the chance to connect and contribute to over 70 pairs of bowlers who were competing for a spot in the World International Blind Society (IBSA) championship, the Asia Pacific Countries (APC) Cup, and the Asean Para Games to be held later this year.
