Asia Mobile Holdings Renews Support for the Laos-Singapore Charity Run

Asia Mobile Holdings was a main sponsor for the 3rd Annual Laos-Singapore Charity Run for the second consecutive year. Held in Vientiane on 10 December 2011, the Charity Run was graced by Guest-of-Honour, Laos’ Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs, H.E. Dr.  Thongloun Sisoulith, and accompanied by Singapore Ambassador to Laos, H.E. Dileep Nair; as well as senior Laotian officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. 

 

More than 500 participants took part in the Charity Run which raised 120 million kip for the construction of various facilities at Ban Pong Song, Hinheub District, Vientiane. These facilities include a water house for housing water cleaning systems, an extension room for primary school teachers, a school canteen, a mini concert stage, and an extension to the Village Community Hall.

Level 3 Communications was honoured with Capacity magazine’s "Best Latin American Wholesale Offering" award by a panel of industry thought leaders at the Annual Global Wholesale Telecommunications Awards ceremony, held during the Capacity Europe 2011 event in Amsterdam. Level 3 was recognised for thought leadership in the development and implementation of its wholesale strategy in the region, and commitment to the Latin American market.

Level 3 Wins Three Federal and State Projects to Provide Broadband Connectivity and Advanced Network Services in California, Georgia, and Texas
 
Level 3 Communications has won two federal-funded projects to improve broadband connectivity and network services in the communities and rural areas of northern Georgia and California’s Central Valley, as well as a five-year contract with state agency Texas Department of Information Resources (DIR) to offer a range of Level 3’s advanced network services to Texas DIR organizations. U Mobile and Maxis Broadband have inked a landmark multi-billion ringgit 10-year agreement to share Maxis’ 3G radio access networks in Malaysia. This significant milestone is a first in Malaysia for the sharing of active telecommunication systems and operating frequency spectrum.

StarHub  Enhances TV Viewing Experience with New Concert and On-Demand TV Channels

StarHub brought great news to concert buffs in Singapore with the launch of iConcert Pack which comprises three channels ― iConcerts, iConcerts HD and iConcerts On Demand. iConcerts features one of the world’s largest music libraries with over 200 concerts and music programmes lined up every month. In addition, StarHub and MediaCorp, Singapore’s leading media company, jointly launched a new channel―8 On-Demand―where viewers can not only choose when to catch their favourite MediaCorp Chinese dramas, but also watch them seven days ahead of their scheduled telecasts on the Free-To-Air platform. There is also convenient access to a library of programmes produced as far back as the 1980s.

StarHub Gives S$150,000 in Tuition Fees to Help Children from Lower-Income Families

StarHub has donated about S$150,000 in tuition fees for children from lower-income families in the Fengshan-Jade district in Singapore for 2012.  StarHub’s CEO Mr. Neil Montefiore presented the gift  to Fengshan-Jade Resident’s Committee Chairman, Mr. Lim Tee Peng, at a ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ performance where more than 35 child beneficiaries  were hosted by StarHub to watch the performance.

U Mobile Sponsors Visually-Impaired Bowlers at the 4th World Tenpin Bowling Championship

U Mobile was the main corporate sponsor for the 4th International Blind Sports Federation (IBSA) World Tenpin Bowling Championships 2011 held in October at Malaysia’s Sunway Megalanes. About 140 visually-impaired talented bowlers from 11 countries participated in the Championship.  The IBSA is a non-profit body that targets to develop and promote sports internationally for the blind and visually-impaired.

U Mobile was the main sponsor of Malaysia’s Pop Star 2011 Contest, a two-month long, nationwide singing competition.  The event aimed to promote the talents of aspiring Malaysian entertainers and support their pursuits as singers and performers on both local and international music arena.
