STT GDC Launches Group ESG Plan, Pledges to Become Carbon-neutral |
Underscoring its commitment to contribute to a more sustainable global economy, STT GDC has unveiled its group Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) strategy for the next five to ten years, focused on three key goals: (1) carbon-neutral data centre operations by 2030; (2) a safe, secure and inclusive workplace; and (3) ethical and responsible operations.
Aligned with its Group ESG goals, STT GDC also recently announced plans to source additional renewable energy and to annually reduce 456,500 tonnes of CO2 emissions by 2025 in India, which set a new sustainability standard for the local data centre industry. In Singapore, STT GDC has also started constructing its 8th data centre– STT Defu 3, designed to meet the industry's highest sustainability standards.

On the global arena, Opensignal, in its recent Global Mobile Network Experience Awards 2021 Report, named StarHub Global Leader for video experience, games experience, download speed experience, and upload speed experience, and Global High Performer for voice app experience and 4G availability. The same report named U Mobile Global Rising Star for its major improvements in download speed experience, video experience, voice app experience, and 4G availability for the second consecutive year, signalling that its aggressive network expansion and improvements are paying off. StarHub and U Mobile also came up tops in their markets in Tutela’s 2021 report on Southeast Asia State of Mobile Experience, where both are named providers for Excellent Consistent Quality and Core Consistent Quality in their respective markets. Opensignal and Tutela based their findings and benchmarks on independently measured data collected from real mobile user experiences. |

GDS Embarks on Overseas Expansion with First Self-Developed Data Centre in Hong Kong |

GDS kicks off its overseas expansion plan with HK1, its first self-developed data centre outside Mainland China in Hong Kong. Set to be completed by mid-2022, HK1 is Asia-Pacific’s first core multi-cloud, cloud-neutral, and hybrid cloud exchange node and a central node for cross-border low-latency international network exchange and Internet data exchange. Over the next five years, GDS intends to expand overseas to support the global innovative development of Mainland China customers. TeleChoice Brings Festive Joy to Seniors and Families |

Keeping with its mission of Connecting People, Empowering Business and Community Bonding, TeleChoice supported Community Chest’s Fú Dài (means “bags of blessings”) event for the fourth consecutive year to bring Lunar New Year festive joy to vulnerable seniors and families. TeleChoice employees, together with other corporate volunteers, distributed over 6,700 festive bags containing food and essential household items to the recipients. They also contributed towards the S$2+ million funds raised from the event to aid over 80 Community Chest-supported social service agencies. |

STT Supports StarHub’s Initiative to Bring 24/7 Food Aid to Vulnerable Communities |
|
|
STT joined hands with StarHub to adopt food vending machines under the latter’s food distribution initiative. The initiative is part of StarHub’s partnership with The Food Bank Singapore (FBSG) to bring 24/7 food aid at no cost to underprivileged families and seniors in public housing estates across Singapore. For a month, STT employee volunteers replenished the vending machine at a public housing block with food items to ensure a steady supply for the beneficiaries. Besides helping to cover the programme’s operating and food supply costs, StarHub’s sponsorship has enabled FBSG to extend its food vending machine network into 11 housing estates, reaching over 2,200 beneficiaries. |

STT Welcomes First Batch of 2021 Catalyst Award Recipients |
|
|
Since March this year, the first three 2021 ST Telemedia Catalyst Award recipients have started their work attachments at STT, where they are exposed to the company’s business, as well as gain work experience in their chosen disciplines. Up to five more award recipients are expected to intern at various STT portfolio companies in the coming months. Marking its fifth year running, the STT Catalyst Award at Temasek Polytechnic was established to support promising final year Singaporean students from low-income families.
