- Investment enhances the STT Cloud IT portfolio with a leading cloud-native service provider in Asia with advanced technological capabilities
- Provides CloudCover significant market access and the opportunity to rapidly accelerate its cloud-native vision
SINGAPORE, 10 March 2020 – ST Telemedia (STT), a strategic investor focused on communications and media, data centres and infrastructure technology businesses, today announced the completion of its investment for a majority stake in CloudCover, a cloud-native service provider with presence in India and Southeast Asia.
Over the last couple of years, STT has taken multiple steps to build a global business taping into the secular trend of cloud adoption by government entities and enterprises of all sizes. This has involved making strategic investments into “born-in-the-cloud” service providers with complementary skillsets and geographical coverage. These investments form the STT Cloud IT business and will leverage STT’s other investments in AI-driven infrastructure technology businesses focused on cybersecurity, big data & IT operations.
Incorporated in 2015 in India, CloudCover is “born-in-the-cloud” and helps its customers solve complex challenges in harnessing the cloud with an automation-driven approach. The company works across GCP, AWS & Azure focusing on tech unicorns and agile enterprises that are embracing true cloud-native technologies, going beyond traditional cloud migrations and managed services. CloudCover provides advanced DevOps, data engineering and cloud-native consulting and already has the Analytics Specialisation on GCP and the DevOps Competency on AWS. With STT as a strategic investor, CloudCover will accelerate its market expansion and talent acquisition as well as build on its strong software development efforts to create products and capabilities that automate and enhance cloud management and data engineering services and operations.
The investment into CloudCover follows the completion of STT’s majority-stake investments in November 2019 of 2nd Watch and in November 2018 of Cloud Comrade. 2nd Watch is a Seattle-based globally recognised leader in providing professional and managed services related to public cloud, while Cloud Comrade is a Singapore-headquartered Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Google Cloud Platform (GCP) Premier partner and Microsoft Azure (Azure) Gold partner.
CloudCover adds to this platform as it brings cloud-native advanced technological capabilities, deepens STT’s position in Southeast Asia and adds access to the Indian market and thereby positions the global STT Cloud IT portfolio as unique in terms of geographical presence, Cloud Service Provider (CSP) coverage, customer universe, partner relationships and technological capabilities.
Nikhil Eapen, Deputy CEO & Chief Investment Officer of STT said, “The addition of CloudCover to our portfolio is key, especially with CloudCover’s obsession on product, automation and cloud-native technologies. CloudCover takes us closer to our goal of building one of the world’s leading Cloud IT platforms to help governments and enterprises embrace digital innovation and the cloud. I look forward to welcoming CloudCover’s talented team to the broader STT family.”
Peter Wright, CEO of STT’s Cloud IT platform in Asia said, “In just a few years, CloudCover has built a strong enterprise customer base in Asia off the back of its world-leading cloud-native services, solutions and products. CloudCover is at the forefront of DevOps and DataOps deployments, helping customers to create significantly more productive development environments whilst at the same time managing risk and compliance of code into production. It is a pleasure to work with such technology visionaries as Vishal and Dhruv and their teams.”
Vishal Parpia, Co-Managing Director of CloudCover said, “STT’s vision of what cloud-native means to companies around the world lines up perfectly with ours, joining forces with them was an obvious choice. Their willingness to collaborate and nurture is exactly what CloudCover needs to accelerate at this point.”
Dhruv Parpia, Co-Managing Director of CloudCover added, “We’re extremely proud and excited to be part of the STT family. This is a giant leap in the right direction for CloudCover to build on our cloud-native vision.”
